Love shouldn’t hurt . . . we need to remember that for millions of women and children, domestic violence does hurt them. But we know abuse is not love. We need to send a message of Christ’s love to those traumatized by domestic violence.
Sadly, a woman is beaten every nine seconds by a boyfriend or husband who claims to “love them.” And, even if children aren’t physically hurt by an abuser, the emotional scars can last a lifetime
To help stop domestic violence, please support the Angel Tree. The Angel Tree is located in the Friendship Room and holds specific needs of survivors of domestic violence. Proceeds directly benefit Abuse Counseling and Treatment, Inc. ACT has three domestic violence shelters and a rape crisis center.
To learn more, please call ACT at 939-2553. If you, or someone who love, needs emergency assistance, please call the 24-hour hotline at 939-3112. Every month our congregation helps those in need. In January, we helped a woman who had left her abuser, and with her housing deposit to move out of the shelter and into her own apartment! Thank you, and God Bless You!!
