Preparation under way for 2008 Christmas Musical

With the work necessary to prepare for our 2008 Christmas Musical, we must begin the process now!  This coming Christmas season the Cypress Lake UMC Music Department and Drama Team will be presenting Deborah Craig-Claar and Mark Hayes', "I'll Be Home for Christmas".  This is a touching story of hope and community, and how we all can rediscover the Prince of Peace at Christmas time no matter what our circumstances.  The time frame for this musical is the 1940's and the Golden Age of Radio.  This musical will not occur during our regular service times as our Cantatas historically have.  It will be offered as a dinner/theater, with dinner being enjoyed in the fellowship hall and the musical itself taking place in the sanctuary.

In the musical there is a main cast of 8 individuals consisting of:  Howard (age 65), the family Patriarch; Norma (age 30), a single mother; Angie (age 25), the perennial younger sister; Mickey (age 8-10), an adventuresome, inquisitive kid; Danny (age 25), a somewhat clumsy mailman; Sid (age 55), the retired car salesman and downstairs neighbor; Lil (age 50), the building's maintenance supervisor/"call 'em as I see 'em" type lady; and Jerry Brainard (age 35), the quintessential radio announcer.  There are many other parts available, such as extras and sfx personnel.  We also need to form "Teams" to assist in the building of sets, creation of costumes, and securing props.  There are so many things that interested individuals can be a part of!  So, we are making the call!  If you are interested in being a part of this exciting musical, here are several ways you can let us know!  1.  Contact Lynn Skorniak, Drama Director, at jlskorniak@embarqmail.com, or contact me, Marlon Scott, at scottyfl01@aol.com.  You can also call me at my office at the church at 239-482-1250, ext. 230.  2.  If you are interested in assisting with costuming, please contact Ann Martin at tandamartin@juno.com
