Community Cooperative Ministries/Soup Kitchen
CLUMC Contact: Billie Simon -The Soup Kitchen (Community Cooperative Ministries, Inc.) is feeding more people in Fort Myers due to our economic downturn; therefore, we need more volunteers to man our two days a month there. We work two shifts, 7—9:15 and 9:15—12:15, the 3rd Wednesday and 4th Thursday of each month. The first shift packs up the “Meals on Wheels” food for the drivers that deliver it; and the second shift readies the food to serve the homeless and poor who come to the kitchen to eat. If you want to help, either sign your name and phone number on the sign-up sheet in the Friendship Room.
Food Pantry for South Fort Myers:
CLUMC Contact: Open -Located at the Presbyterian Church campus nearby. We need volunteers for a late morning or evening shift on the 3rd Monday to organize and distribute food to the residents of South Fort Myers. You may bring donations of canned food (meat, vegetables, fruit), liquids (juice, powdered milk, Gatoraid), bag or boxed (rice, pasta, dried beans) on the 3rd Sunday or to our church office. Our community has many people who are affected by the current economy and even if you are unable to donate money or food, this ministry requires only a few hours of your time once a month. Consider making this a family opportunity to support our neighbors!
