The full extent of the damage is not yet known. Hurricane Dorian left flooding, demolished homes, ripped apart marinas and severely damaged infrastructure.

“We are in the midst of a historic tragedy,” said Bahamian Prime Minister Hubert Minnis. “The devastation is unprecedented and extensive.”

Contributions to UMCOR make the greatest impact and are the best way we can truly help our neighbors.

FEMA and USAID are in the Bahamas now conducting search and rescue, and lifesaving humanitarian missions. When this is complete, responding agencies and organizations will have a better idea of what, if any, material resources are needed.  As of 9/6/2019 it is simply too early to have enough information to act.

We are working with our Bahamian partners and UMCOR, in the next few weeks, we will know what, if any, specific material resources are needed. This information, including how the church can help, will be communicated on the Florida conference website, social media, through our District Offices and with our local churches.
