The Heart of Ministry

Servant volunteers are the heart of ministry. There are many ways to step into serving at Cypress Lake, whether you can volunteer your time during the week or want to serve during worship on Sundays. Below are just a few ways you might easily step into serving. We invite you to “test drive” these opportunities to find a fit that’s right for you. You may contact the church office about any of these opportunities.

BULLETIN STUFFERS
Help is needed in the church office on Thursdays (sometimes Fridays) to prepare the worship bulletin. One or two people are needed each week to stuff bulletins with Teaching Notes and special ministry information.

CHILDREN and YOUTH MINISTRIES
Have a heart to bring children into a lifelong relationship with Christ? We have opportunities on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings working directly with children, as well as ways to assist the Children’s Ministry during the week. All volunteers working with children and youth go through background screening and training.

CHURCH MAINTENANCE
Persons with a background in carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, or other trades are particularly needed to support our facilities. Others without technical experience are welcomed for painting, grounds upkeep, and light maintenance.

COMMUNION SERVERS
Offering the congregation the body and blood of Christ during this holy meal is a simple yet profound way to serve. Servers are needed on the first Sunday of every month at the 8 am, 9:30 am, and 11 am services.

DATA ENTRY TEAM
Are you looking for a way to give back to God from behind the scenes? Do you enjoy working on computers? Specific tasks may include serving with a flexible schedule entering data into a database or recording worship and Bible study attendance. Although you should have good computer skills and feel comfortable using a computer, specific training will be provided.

GREETERS
Arrive 30 minutes prior to the worship service to offer a warm smile and friendly welcome to our many guests and members. For more information, contact Bronwyn Bedient.

HOSPITALITY/ KITCHEN MINISTRY
Welcome someone to church by serving or cleaning up the coffee area on Sunday mornings! Volunteers are also needed to prepare for and serve for occasional receptions and meals.

MUSICIANS
Share your musical gifts in worship! Instrumentalists and singers are essential to both traditional worship and our praise services. A brief audition may be requested. Singers and musicians interested in playing during contemporary worship, please contact the church office; all other musicians should contact Karen Shafer.

OFFICE VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers help with special projects or answering the phones while staff are in meetings. People that can help regularly are welcome, as well as those who can only volunteer on an occasional basis.

PEW STUFFERS
Serve (either alone or with friends and/or family members) and help keep our Sanctuary organized and the seatbacks filled with prayer cards, offering envelopes, and pencils.

TECH TEAM
The Technical Ministry is looking for people who are passionate about telling the Gospel with lights, sound and video. Our desire for technology is to enhance and never distract from worship. Training is provided for those willing to learn and execute technical/computer oriented tasks. Contact technical director Brent Saitta for more information.

USHERS
Join our usher team, volunteering with a smile during all worship services. This important ministry involves handing out bulletins, directing congregants to their seats, and passing the offering plates during worship. Training is provided!

WELCOME CENTER
If you enjoy welcoming and helping others in an active environment, this may be the right spot for you! It’s not about knowing all the answers; it’s about offering a warm smile, a sense of welcome, and hospitality to those who walk through our church doors and helping people find answers to their questions. Welcome Center Team members are needed during all three worship services. For more information, contact Bronwyn Bedient.
