We are thrilled to welcome Rev. Kayln Wiley and Grady Wiley to the Cypress Lake UMC staff! Kalyn is our new pastor of youth ministry, and Grady serves as the director of contemporary worship.

A deacon in the United Methodist Church, Rev. Kayln Wiley spent most of her childhood in Western NC after moving from Daytona Beach. Kayln earned a Bachelor of Music with a focus on vocal performance and music education from the University of North Carolina. She was a member, a student leader, and later a staff member at Wesley Campus Ministry at UNC-Chapel Hill. During this time, she served on staff and as a consultant for local churches in the triangle. In addition, Kayln also worked for two non-profit organizations, Carolina Women’s Center and Kidzu Children’s Museum.

She is a graduate of Duke Divinity School, where she received a Master of Arts in Christian Practice. She served at various local churches in the Western NC Conference in Waynesville, Asheville, Weaverville, and Mills River. Most recently, Kayln served as the Pastor of Children’s Ministries at Long’s Chapel UMC in Waynesville. She also serves as the Chairperson for the Board of Directors for the Asheville Wesley Foundation.

Grady Wiley is a native of Western North Carolina. He spent the early years of his life playing music primarily in realm of symphonic music. He was the principal percussionist for the North Carolina State Orchestra for six years. After feeling a call from God to use his musical gifts for something bigger than himself he began to lead worship within the local church, and has been leading worship within the local church context for the last 13 years.

Grady has a passion for telling the story of faith through song and creative expressions. He received his undergraduate degree from Pfeiffer University in Youth Ministry and Christian Education and is enrolled to begin seminary online through Duke Divinity School in the fall of 2020. He is a certified candidate for ministry in the Western North Carolina Conference. Grady is energized and excited to begin his journey alongside the staff and congregation of Cypress Lake UMC.

Kayln and Grady have a very spoiled cat named Hope. In their free time, they are avid travelers and Disney aficionados.
