In 1965, the United Methodist Church purchased property on the corner of Cypress Lake Drive and Winkler Road with the intent to construct a new church. Nine years later, in October 1974, we held our first services in what is now the Youth Center. The church grew rapidly, adding the Fellowship Hall and Sanctuary over the next ten years. In 1985, the church sponsored a preschool program – Bright Beginnings Early School. In the 1990s, two additional were added to keep up with the needs of a growing church. Today, the church offers a variety of ministries and events on and off campus, all working toward the transformation of lives here, there and everywhere. Bright Beginnings is still going strong with a full capacity of over 100 children in preschool education, including a summer camp for preschool through elementary school aged kids. We support numerous local outreach partners with volunteer time and financial support. There’s a place for you in the next chapter of our history, too!
As United Methodists, we come from a long and rich history, which all began with John and Charles Wesley, founders of the Methodist movement. Cypress Lake is proud to be a United Methodist congregation. All people are welcome; God’s grace is available to all people, no matter where you’re from, what you look like, or how you grew up.
The United Methodist Church has a library of FAQs that answers many of the “tough questions” of theological and social significance.
